Siding gates are suitable when the property doesn’t have enough space for swing gates or when there’s a steep upward slope towards the back of the property, making a swing gate impossible. However, sliding gates need enough space to the side of the gate in order to open completely — the space required should be twice the length of the gate itself, plus a little wiggle room. If you meet these requirements, you may need sliding gates.
If you don’t have twice the length of the sliding gate on one side of the property, we may recommend a double sliding gate or a tandem gate. A double sliding gate consists of two panels that retract one on each side, so you only need half the gate’s length on each side of the property. Swing Gates
